I will be going over the lesson in Monday’s Mandatory Zoom Meeting.  However, this is the same process that we went through at school with our Chocolate Milk Writing.  This should be familiar to the students.
 
Together we researched and wrote our Chocolate Milk Opinion Essay.  During the next two week you will be writing an opinion essay on a new topic.  You will do the research this week and make a plan.  Then you will be writing the essay next week. 
 
Background: The legislature has passed a new law that allows only service dogs to go with their owners into public places.  You are working on the school newsletter, and you have been asked to write a multi-paragraph article giving your opinion on the new law.
 
Topic: Is allowing only service dogs in public places a good law or should other service animals also be allowed in public spaces?

Writing: Chocolate Milk Argument Essay: Monday – Thursday
We started our Chocolate Milk Argument Essays 2 weeks ago in class. You should already have both your body paragraphs written. If you have not finished your body paragraphs you need to complete them before moving on to the Introduction and Conclusion.  This week you are going to add an Introduction and a Conclusion. 
  • Monday, March 23rd: You will be adding an introduction to your Chocolate Milk Argument Essay.  Remember you can always refer to my example for help. At least 5 Sentence!
    • Introduction: here are the parts that should be in your introduction
      • #1 Grab the reader’s attention with a HOOK 
      • #2 Describe the topic - tell a little more about the topic.
      • #3 Present the major ideas/reasons of the essay.
      • #4 Write your THESIS Statement as the last sentence of your paragraph.
  • Tuesday, March 24th: You will be adding a conclusion to your Chocolate Milk Argument Essay.  Remember you can always refer to my example for help. At least 5 Sentence!
    • Conclusion: here are the parts that should be in your conclusion
      • #1 Restate THESIS statement in different words
      • #2 Revisit your main ideas/ reasons 
      • #3 Leave your reader with something to think about
  • Wednesday, March 25th: Today is you opportunity to make any changes to your essay.  Possibly have your parent or siblings read your essay and give you feedback.  I will be spending today (Wednesday) to give you feedback through the Google Classroom
  • Thursday, March 26th: Last day to make any final edits before you press “Turn In”
    • Before you turn it in…
      • Change all font to Black
      • Make sure you have an original title
      • Make sure your name in on the top
      • Reread it one last time before you submit
      • Press “Turn In”
